Part One

Have you ever hugged or leaned against a tree. You can feel their strength, spirit and wisdom. So many times in my life I have done this, asking for all of the above.

Trees are beings ,they have spirit and want us to notice them.

I remember reading a beautiful story a women wrote about her experience journeying to a tree, she tells how the trees miss the humans that danced, drummed and sang around them. I believe this so I often hug them and talk to them leave them gifts and offerings.

I often find cool tree branches or roots on my walks they often talk to me asking to be taken home and made into art. If you live near water you may find drift wood that has a smooth beautiful surface.

And if you live in a city and have no trees Etsy has many people that sell just that. It blows me away on what you can find on Etsy

So do some tree talking and try and find that special piece calling to you.

Find you spirit stick if you don't have any in your hood try shopping on Etsy.

Gather what you may want to adorn your stick with. We will be using bead embroidery techniques along with Apoxie Sculpt.

Faces are fun to add to your spirit sticks. I gave a few artist names in the supply list but again search on Etsy.

part two

stone spirits

Like trees stones also have spirit I am sure you have felt that holding a special stone in your hand or taking a walk coming home with a pocket full of rocks.

Stones can heal us, many of them have special healing qualities as we learned in unit one.

Many in my neck of the woods have moss and lichen the colors are so inspiring. There are smooth rocks, rough rocks, large and small rocks.

We will be playing with larger stones in this unit making them into art to hang or perhaps lay on a table.

I have found it fun to add faces to many of the spirit sticks and stones I make. It seems to help bring the spirit of the stone out a bit but of course isn't required.

Maybe your stone doesn't want or need a face just the beauty of itself is all thats needed.

Keep an eye out for the stone that wants to play with you. We will be using Apoxie Sculpt and bead embroidery techniques to bring out the spirit of stones.

Part three

Sticks and Stones jewelry

In part three we will be making some jewelry using small sticks or stones that we may find along our path in life.

I often find small animal bones as well and collect them all.

Yes we all have cabochons in out stash but I am talking about uncut raw material, you know the pocket full of stones you brought home the last time your strolled along the beach.
